As most of you know, my parents, Richard and Joan Myers, were the founders of Rochester Hills Family Worship Center, which was originally named Avondale Faith Tabernacle (AFT). Both were deeply compassionate and had a sincere burden for missions. Under their leadership, thousands were encouraged to give freely to nearly a dozen missionaries – of which the majority were supported by RHFWC for over 40 years.
Today, the vision continues with the launching of a brand new ministry — MISSIONARY SUPPORT INTERNATIONAL (MSI). Birthed in September of 2017 and now headquartered in Surprise, Arizona, my wife, Lori and I serving as the new Directors of MSI.
Through the reconstruction of RHFWC, MSI is now sending increased financial support on a regular basis. Ministry teams from the US are helping with short-term mission trip projects, reporting back to the local churches and to our partners the immediate needs of missionaries and their pastoral leadership. As Lori and I fill the role of Ambassadors acting on behalf of the missionaries, we will expedite their mission efforts quickly and efficiently, spreading the gospel at an accelerated rate throughout the regions. Leaders from each country will multiply and effect even greater changes.
As a former missionary myself, I know the need to proclaim the work that is being done, but also to share the needs that need to be met. We (MSI) have already been able to give additional support that would have taken at least 10 years of regular giving from the church. We have just heard recent reports of churches being repaired from typhoons, new ones being built, newly commissioned pastors being funded, and more villages being reached. Many projects and opportunities that would not have been possible for many years to come have been launched. God gets all the glory! He is calling us to reach out to new partners that have a desire to be an integral part of this ministry – and that is why we are reaching out to you.
Even though MSI is a new ministry, its foundation comes from 4 decades of faithful ministry both locally and globally. My father, Richard Myers envisioned the possibility of this for many years. He always said that RHFWC was not just a building, but a ministry that was called to fulfill the ministry of Jesus Christ as in Luke 4:18, Isaiah 61, and Matthew 28:16-20; to fulfill the Great Commission. Now it is coming to pass in a greater way than we ever thought possible.
We are asking God to lay it upon the hearts of friends and partners who have seen the faithfulness of this ministry and its heart for missions to sow into MSI and its continued vision to reach the nations for Christ. We will be sending out reports and newsletters on a regular basis to inform you of how your seed of giving is making an impact in many countries such as Indonesia, the Philippines, Brazil, Mexico, Cuba, Israel, Turkey, Kenya, Lithuania, and the USA. We expect to add more countries and missionaries as God lays them upon our hearts to join us in fulfilling the Great Commission.We hope this will ignite passion in the hearts of people who want to help support these dedicated “generals in the faith” who willingly lay down their lives for the sake of the gospel.
